LOVE AND DREAMS!
"I love him/her. She/ he calls/texts me all the time. We talk for hours before bedtime. I think I have found the one."
Are you familiar with these lines? Should we tell them? Hahahah!
I am pretty sure we are guilty of this somehow.
A lot of us young people are guilty as charged. We often fall in blindly to what we term love.
While so many have missed it already and which they could undo what they had done, you still have the opportunity to do right.
So last night, while studying, I got a lengthy message from a young wife who is already suicidal but the innocent husband is unaware (yes we have a lot of people in her situation these days).
To sum it up, she is contemplating suicide because she feels unfulfilled and irrelevant. In her words " All I have to show for is a bulging tummy, saggy boobs, unkempt hair, chapped nails and untamed brows. I want to be more, I want to pursue my dreams. I want a name to my own brand."
I felt really sorry for her because I was that woman before. I totally understand what it means living in the shadows. Well! The good news is that she is on her way to owning her own farm which has been her life long desire. Thank God her husband listened to the voice of reasoning..... that's a hallelujah!!!
My point today is this, being a wife is not an accomplishment because you are first human which means you have a life you have been called to live, you have dreams you must fulfil, talents you must use up, people who are tied to your destiny. Imagine dumping all of that on the road side of life only to wake up one day and realize you have to walk 10 or more years backwards to pick up from where you left it. That alone is exhausting!
To make it worst, when you switch on the television set and women(married and single) are doing exploits in different part of the world and here you are stuck right where you've always been.
So here is the deal....
This is one way everyobe should prove their love for a partner. We must learn to listen to their dreams, embrace it as though it was ours, strategize with them, help them figure and work it out.
If you are with someone who has never asked what your money generation interest are, what business you are keen about or do, what strategies you deploy, what level of education you plan to attain, what innovations you plan to create, please make sure you brace yourself up for miserable life ahead.
Even the bible said "Can two work together unless they agree?"
Love will never be enough to sustain a healthy marriage. You both must find a common goal to invest your energy in.
